Christening of second generation SWATH from Danish Yachts

Press release from Danish Yachts:

Christening of the first 'Second Generation' CAT-SWATH from Danish Yachts

In the port of Skagen, Denmark, and under the watchful eyes of client and the new recipients of the latest all-carbon fibre second generation FOB SWATH from Danish Yachts, Patrik von Sydow, CEO of Danish Yachts, led a christening ceremony for the launch of vessel number five from the offshore wind range of Danish Yachts' SWATHs.

The latest 24m FOB SWATH from Danish Yachts follows a series of four vessels delivered to client 'Odfjell Wind' in 2013, and was today christened "LINA" by Godmother; Mrs Lina Böttcher of E.ON, during a ceremony held in Skagen, the home of Danish Yachts' shipyard.

Following the success of the previous four FOB SWATH vessels delivered, the fifth Danish Yachts' SWATH, which operates in both Catamaran and SWATH mode thanks to its unique ballast system, has been further enhanced to reach new heights in safety and comfort standards for its crew and passengers.

The 'second generation' SWATH from Danish Yachts, has seen an additional weight reduction of 15% compared to its original design, improving fuel efficiency, range, speed and stability on the water. A new wheelhouse configuration has also been introduced to allow for a more complete 360 degree open vision for when operating out at sea and landing against the wind turbines.

Patrik von Sydow, CEO of Danish Yachts explains "we are very excited with the launch of our 'second generation SWATH', which we believe will exceed our clients expectations with regards to seakeeping and performance. We are pushing the boundaries of design, innovation, and advancing with carbon composite production techniques to continually improve safety standards of crew and passengers whilst out at sea.

Another milestone for Danish Yachts is that they have already begun build of a new 32m SWATH design for the Oil and Gas industry to be delivered in early 2015.

SWATH 'Lina' will soon depart for operation by E.ON in the German North Sea out of Cuxhaven and the Island of Helgoland.
