VIKING opens Brazilian subsidiary

VIKING Life-Saving Equipment is establishing a new Brazilian division to better service its growing portfolio of customers operating in the region.

Brazil’s highly developed offshore and commercial shipping markets are strategically important to VIKING. The additional premises will enable the company to focus on costeffective and reliable sales and servicing of safety equipment, as well as its unique safety solutions for offshore platforms including evacuation systems, protective clothing and lifesaving appliances.

VIKING's global stock points – now soon including Brazil - ensure prompt delivery at competitive prices. Establishing a sales base within Brazil enables VIKING to rapidly deliver competitively priced products to the local region.

Located in the Botafogo area near the famous Sugarloaf mountain in Rio de Janeiro, the new office is already operational but will be officially opened and manned in August 2009.

The office will be headed by Managing Director Mr. Jan Nikolaj Jensen, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Global Manager at VIKING Marine Fire Safety, as well as expertise gained as a local agent for Danfoss-Semco, Semco Maritime, Hydro Marine Aluminium and Techno Dive. Mr. Jensen has considerable local market knowledge, living and working in Brazil for over 25 years, and was formerly a Danish Vice Consul in Rio de Janeiro.

The new Service Manager is Mr. Igor Ferreira, a former work safety technician, who has much experience within the fields of rope access, personnel security and rescue equipment. Mr. Ferreira is currently being trained at the VIKING head office in Denmark.
