New Directive on classification societies

The European parlament is currently considering a proposal made by the Commission on a Directive on the work of the classification societies.
The proposal gives recognised organisations the possibility to agree on mutual recognition of certificates based on equivalent standards, established by recognised organisations themselves. Danish Mairitme supports the proposal for a new Directive, just like we would like a rationalization and improvement of the classification process in general. Among other things Danish Maritime work for this through its membership in EMEC (European Marine Equipment Council).
